GCAP has given out over $50,000 worth of scholarships yearly for individuals paying their own way through classes trying to get ahead or their foot in the door. GCAP also has a program in place to help job place these students. In late 2008, GCAP got involved with the WWP (Wounded Warrior Project) and worked on getting vets an opportunity at a new career and has always had a passion for fellow Americans that have protected what we all love so much.
IIAR (International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration) and RETA (Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association) anounced they are in the works of developing a scholarship fund between the two organizations to focus on US military veterans for operator training and get them started in a new career. This will be led by Jim Baron of RETA, and Lois S O’Connor of IIAR. Jeremy Williams of GCAP has offered to train any candidate that they find for FREE through GCAP and volunteered GCAP’s services of job placement if they see fit as well.
We are excited to see the collaboration between these two organizations and hope that GCAP can play a small role. “It’s the least we can do,” said Mrs. De La Pena of GCAP. Until RETA and IIAR have everything together to support this new collaboration, veterans can still apply for scholarships through GCAP’s website.
